The title recalls the famous play A Man for All Seasons about Thomas More, who lost his head for his convictions. Slovenes have their own man for all seasons: Primož Trubar did not lose his head, but he did lose his homeland.
This two-page leaflet, collected and written by Vinko Ošlak, briefly presents Trubar’s life and his most important works. Trubar published 22 books in Slovene and two in German, among them:
- the Catechism and Abecedarium (1550), the beginning of Slovene literature and the Slovene literary language,
- the first Slovene translation of the New Testament (1557–1577),
- the Church Order (1564), which called for Slovene schools and the right to use the Slovene language. It led to his exile.
It is a good start for anyone who wants to get to know Trubar in a few pages. The leaflet is in Slovene; an English version was published in 2017.
