For all Slovenes, the true knowledge of God
In 1550 Primož Trubar gave us the first Slovene book. We translate his writings into modern Slovene so that everyone can read them again.
“For all Slovenes I ask grace, peace, mercy and the true knowledge of God through Jesus Christ.” Primož Trubar, Catechism, 1550
The words on the €1 coin
What does “stati inu obstati” really mean?
Every Slovene knows Trubar’s phrase on our one-euro coin: “stand and withstand”. But what does it actually mean? The answer is in the first Slovene book, the Catechism of 1550. The Trubar Forum offers a free e-book with Trubar’s “Sermon on Faith” side by side in old and modern Slovene. The printed booklet is also available in English, German and Esperanto.

About us
Reading Trubar today
The Trubar Forum is a voluntary, non-profit and independent association of people and organisations who want to preserve, cultivate, spread and continue the evangelical and Protestant heritage of the Reformation in culture, society and faith.
One of our main goals is to translate Trubar’s most important writings into modern language. Slovenes rightly value and respect Trubar, but apart from experts most of us cannot read what he wrote. We are working step by step to change that.
